Idaho has significant budget issues. Over 70% of Idaho’s general fund is used to pay for public education, including State colleges and Universities. Between 2007 and 2014, Idaho General Fund spending rose by 2.74%. Since 2015 Idaho General Fund spending has increased by 6.34% per year. This is unsustainable.
We need to reduce government spending and not raise taxes. This may mean finding additional sources of State revenue, which is why I propose my Idaho Resources for Idaho Jobs program. At the same time, we need to limit future “automatic” increases in state expenditures to the maximum extent possible.
